Coolie Review: When Star Power Outshines the Script
Coolie came in with sky-high expectations. I mean, just look at the cast — Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Shruti Haasan — all in one film. You’d think it’s an automatic blockbuster, right? Well, not quite.

Coolie Review: When Star Power Outshines the Script |
Rajinikanth delivers his trademark charisma, no doubt. Whenever he’s on screen, you feel that “Thalaivar” energy. Nagarjuna looks solid, Aamir Khan slips into his role effortlessly, and Shruti Haasan adds her own spark. The performances aren’t the problem — they’re actually the saving grace.
The issue? The story just doesn’t land. For a Rajinikanth film, you expect that punch, that larger-than-life vibe that makes you cheer. However, the plot feels… thin here. It moves along, sure, but it never really grips you. Even the action sequences feel like they’re going through the motions rather than hitting with real impact.
By the end, I was left thinking: With this cast, why isn’t this film better? It’s not terrible — it’s just “okay.” And when you’re talking about a superstar like Rajinikanth, “okay” feels disappointing.
My rating: 3.2/5. Watch it for the actors, not for the story.
